Hidalgo Medical Services

Hidalgo Medical Services (HMS) is the Federally Qualified Health Center serving Hidalgo and Grant County through a comprehensive system of Primary Care in thirteen clinics located throughout the service area, including School-Based Health Clinics in the Lordsburg, Silver and Cobre School Districts.

In addition, HMS has been a Community Mental Health Clinic and the designated Core Service Agency for both adults and children since June 2015. As such, we deliver a comprehensive array of Behavioral Health to include intensive services such as Comprehensive Community Support Services (CCSS), Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP), and Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR).

We are also one of two sites in the State of New Mexico providing integrated care coordination services through a Promoting Integration of Primary and Behavioral Health Care (PIPBHC) grant funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). As a Carelink Health Home and a Bridges to Wellness provider we are able to serve care coordination needs for both Medicaid and Non-Medicaid covered individuals. We are in Year Two of this five year grant.

HMS also provides comprehensive Dental Services, Family Support Services, and Senior Services that are similarly integrated into the overall services available to all patients of the agency.

HMS is an accredited, Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home through the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). We are also 2019 recipients of the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) Silver Quality Award given to the top 20% of all health centers in the United States.

HMS currently employees more than 240 dedicated professionals and operates as a private 501(c)3 nonprofit governed by a volunteer Board of Directors with a representative array of experience and expertise, as required by HRSA regulations.

We serve more than half of the residents of our service area, with nearly 17,000 unique patients across our various service lines – most of whom access multiple services. Through our mental health services we have provided services to justice system involved individuals for nearly 15 years.
