Scranton Counseling Center

Scranton Counseling Center is a community based, private nonprofit behavioral health provider serving children, adolescents and adults with mental health and substance abuse issues in Lackawanna, Susquehanna, and surrounding counties without regard to ability to pay. We are northeast Pennsylvania’s largest, integrated provider with over seven decades of high quality, accessible services to those in need in our community.

The Center also serves as the 24/7 mental health crisis service provider for Lackawanna and Susquehanna Counties and provides in person, telephone, as well as mobile individual and mobile team services to respond to mental health crises in the community, as well as in the five hospital Emergency Departments in Lackawanna and Susquehanna Counties. Our mission is to promote wellness and recovery from mental illness and substance use disorders, by providing an environment that is considerate of and sensitive to the unique personal and cultural attributes of those individuals we serve, and which empowers them to make choices about their lives, pursue their personal goals, and maximize their quality of life while respecting their individual dignity and confidentiality.

The Center provides high quality behavioral health services through a number of specialized and evidence-based programs to over 9,000 members of our community each year. Through a highly diverse and experienced staff numbering more than 200, the Center focuses on the unique needs of our clients in a supportive collaborative fashion. Our professional/medical staff includes, but is not limited to Board Certified Psychiatrists, a Child Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner, Experienced Certified Physician Assistants, Licensed Psychologists, Social Workers, and Professional Counselors, Registered Nurses, Mental Health Professionals, Behavioral Health Workers, Certified Peer and Recovery Specialists, as well as customer service/support staff working collaboratively to meet the diverse needs of our clients.
