The Southern Colorado Community Action Agency, Inc. (SoCoCAA) was created by the Southern Ute Indian Tribe on October 10, 1966 and received its non-profit corporate status as an independent entity in 1967. SoCoCAA has been in continuous service since then (formerly as the Southern Ute Community Action Programs).
SoCoCAA’s mission is to empower community members of all ages to recognize and reach their full potential by providing select programs and services in order to create better communities.
Most SoCoCAA programs serve the community of Ignacio, Colorado, where SoCoCAA is headquartered. However, some programs operate across Southern Colorado. One SoCoCAA division, The Training Advantage, operates in three workforce areas in partnership with the Colorado Workforce Center system. Road Runner Transportation operates throughout La Plata County and between Durango and Grand Junction, CO.
