MST (Multisystemic Therapy) is an intensive family and community-based treatment that addresses the multiple determinants of serious behavior in young people that often results in arrests, other causes for out of home placement and breakdown of the family connection. MST addresses the multiple factors known to be related to delinquency across the key settings, or systems, within which youth are embedded (e.g. family, peers, school, neighborhood). 

The MST model fits well with the Children’s Village's mission statement, the current focus towards community-based preventive services and family reunification, and with CV values.  The MST model promotes personal responsibility, education, work ethic, community responsibility and an intolerance of violence and prejudice. 

The MST Expert while working 75% remotely, will support up to 10 MST teams through weekly consultation support, weekly support to supervisors, staff onboarding and quarterly booster trainings (requiring travel).  As part of the support to the teams, the MST Expert is responsible for ensuring model adherence of each team and will:  

  • Provide model specific clinical direction to supervisors and therapists during weekly individual meetings with supervisors and group consultation with MST teams.
  • Review therapist’s treatment plans weekly, review audiotapes weekly and conduct field supervisions (target of 1 annually if possible).
  • Provide on-the-job training to new Therapists, Supervisors, quarterly booster training to teams and other in-services as needed by teams.
  • Support supervisors in maintenance of MSTi website
  • Maintenance and navigation of MSTI website/sharepoint
  • Check email/phone messages often daily, reviewing red flag cases
  • Interface with larger agency, communication with superior regarding team performance and outcomes.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrate compliance with the 9 MST principals and the MST analytical process.
  • Collaborate with all relevant systems and key participants within each system to ensure their buy-in and cooperation throughout MST treatment.
  • Provide direction regarding clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST Principles and practices.
  • Participate in all MST training, supervision and consultation activities.
  • Responsible for the clinical development of all therapist and supervisory staff.
  • Conduct site visits with stakeholders.
  • Collaboratively develop timely Program Implementation Reports.
  • Record and upload all consultations for QI/QA.
  • Provide consultation coverage for peers.
  • Provide great customer service and demonstrate the ability to engage and motivate staff.
  • Attend Diversion, Equity and Inclusion training and engagements within the agency.

The MST Expert will report to the Vice President for Behavioral Health Services/Network Partner Director.
