Job Description

With offices across Chicago, the MST Family Therapist at Youth Outreach Services provides counseling, assessment, treatment planning, and sustainability planning services to youth and families across the Windy City and surrounding areas.  This position is community-based and involves providing services directly in family homes multiple times per week. Therapists manage a small case load to support more intensive services.

You will empower families to address behavioral goals and help youth aged 12 - 17 make life-transforming changes.  Through collaboration stakeholders across Chicago, the MST team at Youth Outreach Services leverages relationships with Chicago's child welfare, juvenile justice, and education systems to build meaningful and sustainable resources families need to thrive.

  • Therapists receive specialized training and extensive supervision.
  • Therapists have a high level of flexibility with scheduling.
  • Therapists will have exposure to a wide range of clinical needs and systems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide family counseling using the evidence-based Multisystemic Therapy (MST) model and principles. 
  • Assess needs, strengths, and systemic supports to nurture family growth, reduce interactions with the justice system, keep youth in school, and stabilize home placement.
  • Participate in weekly group supervision and consultation with team therapists and clinical experts to support continuous quality improvement.
  • Access extensive training on MST and family counseling to promote clinician development.
  • Collaboratively provide access to 24/7 support as needed.


  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, or related field preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree similar disciplines will be considered
  • Experience working with at-risk youth, families, juvenile justice, and/or community health
  • A valid IL driver's license
  • Reliable transportation (proof of insurance required)
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus!
